The State of Michigan reports 653 new confirmed Coronavirus cases today.  Yesterday, there were 612.  And that wasn't the first time this week that the daily case count topped 600.

For the first time since May, Michigan reported more than 600 new daily cases earlier in the week, and seeing the numbers from the past two days, it appears that it wasn't just a fluke.

Michigan's total case count as of Saturday is 68,948.  Shiawassee County stands at 259 cumulative cases.  8 are active, with at least two being connected to the outbreak at Harper's in East Lansing.

The health department issued notice this week of new positive cases being connected to a recent fireworks display held at Immanuel Baptist Church in Corunna as well as Owosso's Walmart store.

Presently, no one is hospitalized with Coronavirus in Shiawassee County, the Shiawassee County Health Department reports.

In recent days, several west and mid-Michigan counties, including Shiawassee County, were rolled back to Phase 2 of the Governor's MI SAFE START plan; now being labeled as "high risk."

On Friday, Governor Whitmer issued an Executive Order requiring businesses to enforce the wearing of masks to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Meijer and Walmart have announced that they will comply. No one without a mask will be allowed to enter the stores.
