Still No Confirmed Coronavirus Cases in Shiawassee County As State Total Approaches 800

Seven Total COVID-19 Deaths Now Reported in Michigan

After the state's latest update regarding Coronavirus, the total count of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Shiawassee county remains zero.

The total statewide cumulative count is 787.

There were two additional Coronavirus-related deaths reported by the state; one in the city of Detroit and one in Oakland county, bringing the state total to six.  However, since the state released its report, two additional deaths have been reported; one, a man in Kent County.  Details on an eighth death being reported by are not yet available.  The news outlet also reports the statewide's cumulative count has increased to at least 807 since the State's afternoon update.

Shiawassee County is now completely surrounded by confirmed Coronavirus cases.  Clinton County has 2, Genesee has 7, Ingham has 11, Livingston has 6 and Saginaw has its first.  Adjacent to Shiawassee County, Gratiot County also has zero confirmed cases.

Art Van Furniture is suspending its liquidation sales due to the COVID-19. The Warren-based retailer said Thursday that it is following guidance by public health authorities. 

Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills and Twelve Oaks in Novi will close their doors through at least March 29th. The owner of both malls, Taubman Centers, is closing down nearly all of its malls nationwide. 

The Grand Rapids Children's Museum is helping kids stay busy at home during school closures. The museum is closed, but its online portal to fun and activities is open.

An aging bridge in Detroit over I-94 is closed for repairs until Sunday. The Cass Avenue bridge between West Palmer and Antoinette has been shut down by the Michigan Department of Transportation.  

Operations at Flint Assembly have stopped due to concerns over the coronavirus. Employees were told Flint Assembly operations wrapped up after second shift. Flint Assembly will be back to operation March 30th. 

Ferris State University is closing all residence halls on campus as it offers online classes to students during the coronavirus outbreak. Ferris will offer remote instruction through June 1. 

Michigan Congressman John Moolenaar is keeping busy during the coronavirus pandemic. He held a telephone town hall Thursday afternoon and says he’s worked on legislation to help the country and Michigan.
